PepsiCo — When Learning Became a Game

The Planogram Problem

For FMCG brands, correct product placement on retail shelves (planograms) is critical for sales. However, PepsiCo's field sales teams were struggling to memorize complex shelf arrangements despite traditional training sessions and presentations.

Interactive Shelf Building

To solve this, we replaced the PowerPoint presentations with a touch-based interactive game. Field representatives stood before a massive digital display showing an empty retail shelf. They had a limited amount of time to drag and drop various PepsiCo product variants onto their exact correct positions, receiving instant visual feedback.

Learning Through Play

By integrating a countdown timer and a rewards engine, the training session turned into a high-energy competition. The need to beat the clock—and their peers—encouraged participants to play repeatedly. This gamified repetition built instinctive muscle memory, vastly improving their real-world product placement awareness without feeling like tedious training.
